Winners of Engadget’s Halloween Costume Contest!

Engadget Halloween Contest - Canon

We had some freaking amazing entries in our first annual Halloween Costume Contest (though no one actually wanted to be really scary and dress up as Peter Rojas). But when it came down to it, we had to pick some winners; we actually wound up having more runners up than we’d originally expected because there were so many great entries, but our grand prize goes to Komei H., and his functional Canon PowerShot S200—with working rear LCD viewfinder! Be sure to check out the rest of our winners after the break!

Grand prize (5G iPod with video)

Engadget Halloween Contest

Yes, the barrel retracts!

Engadget Halloween Contest - Canon

Yes! The viewfinder is functional!

So the camera actually takes pictures, then previews them or goes viewfinder style on the back display — the rig was powered by a car jumpstarter. Wow. Just… wow. Way to go, Komei!

Second place (unlocked RAZR V3)Engadget Halloween Contest - Daft Punk

2nd place goes to Cam R., and his functional Daft Punk costume. When we say functional, we mean that helmet scrolls text, just like in the video. Damn, yo. Peep the 15MB AVI of it in action!

Runners up (Tokyo Flash watches)
Engadget Halloween Contest - TiVo

Ryan Z’s TiVo costume may look like the real deal, but trust is, this thing is home freakin’ made.

Engadget Halloween Contest - iSight

We always wondered what kind of facial expressions an anthropomorphized iSight + mount might have. Thanks, Ben J.

Engadget Halloween Contest - Nintendo

We too want to touch Nicholas T.’s Nintendo controller.

Engadget Halloween Contest - nano

Michael E.’s nano wasn’t iPod-functional, but he showed some serious TLC in its fabrication.

Honorable mention
iPod costume

Troy C.’s functional iPod was pretty great, so we’re gonna give’m something nice anyway.

Engadget Halloween Contest - Terminator

Paul J’s terminator/robot mask was freaking insane. He’s gonna get something nice, too.

Big thanks to everyone who entered! We’ll have more contest entrant highlights later today, so stay tuned!

bedazzled

I was wondering why the others can study so much for so long, with such diligence and consistency and I can't. Oh wait, I never really did. Last time it was coz Mama's nagging me to do my work and shut down my Pentium III. It was coz I had to go for tuition classes. Now my Pentium 4 is a loyal 24/7 servant and there aint no tuition classes. Discussions are clearly stated as OPTIONAL.

I am a Junior now (yeah upperclassmen tickets), but I still can't find the answer. Do I not belong to the world of electrical engineering or am I still trying to keep the I-am-not-a-nerdy-bookworm tag. Coz I know real well that I aint reading stuffs that are related to studies.
To be or not to be...... And you only live once.

Nintendo REVOLUTION!

Nintendo Reveals Nintendo Revolution Controller Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

Ok this is new. The Nintendo Revolution Controller is a TV Remote combined with a Joystick unit.

Nintendo breaks with more than 20 years of video game history by abandoning the traditional controller held with two hands and introducing an all-new freehand-style unit held with one hand.

"The feeling is so natural and real, as soon as players use the controller, their minds will spin with the possibilities of how this will change gaming as we know it today," explains Satoru Iwata, Nintendo president.

I applaud Nintendo to try something new. Will it work? I do not know yet

BUT I THINK THIS IS A MISMATCH ! WELL, MAYBE FOR NOW.

Please Donate

Donated the $40.00 I got last night from the sale of my football ticket to the Katrina fund. Hopefully they make full use of it.
Now they found E.Coli in the water.
Please show your support with some donations or merchandise purchase through their store.

Es cierto que el dinero no es mucho, pero tu ayuda va a ser muy importante para las victimas de huracán Katrina. Muchas gracias otra vez.

Some Great Add-Ons for Your iPod
Add-Ons for Your iPod

Sure, Apple's iPod is cool, but did you realize it can be even cooler. For example, did you know about the alarm clock? I bet you don't use it. Or what about the easy-to-navigate iPod remote that can wrap around your bike's handles? Then there's the iPod sock that keeps your beloved device warm and cozy at night. Whether you have the iPod, iPod mini, or iPod Shuffle, there are a bevy of products to accessorize your favorite music player.

As you'd expect, some products are natural extensions of the music player. Portable speakers, for example, likethe Altec Lansing inMotion iM7, let you share your love of music with those around you. Headsets, like the Bluetooth wireless set from AirLogic, give you even more freedom to move around.

There are also iPod 'lifestyle' products. Recently, at the MacWorld Conference and Expo in Boston, some innovative and interesting products were shown, including the iGuy, a case that turns your iPod into a gumby-like figure, and the Dela-pod, a handbag with a clear plastic cut out for easy iPod access. Both products prove that iPod accessories are as personal and individual a choice as the music stored on the player and even the player itself.

Below, you'll find ten of our editors' favorite iPod accoutrements:

Altec Lansing inMotion iM7 Altec Lansing inMotion iM7 ($250)

Bose SoundDock Digital Music System Bose SoundDock Digital Music System ($300)
The SoundDock Speaker isn't meant to be portable; it's designed to be used as an external speaker system for late-model iPods. Though a little pricey, you'll be knocked out by its out-standing sound quality.

The DLO iDirect turns your iPod into a mini remote-controlled stereo, and lets you enjoy your tunes from afar while vegging on the couch.

Griffin AirClick Griffin AirClick ($40)
This remote comes with a Velcro strap, so it can be secured to your steering wheel or bike handle, letting you easily navigate between songs on an iPod. It also lets you remotely flip through pictures on an iPod photo.

Griffin PodPod Griffin PodPod ($9.99)
So simple and so easy to use, the Griffin PodPod fits into your car's cup holder and keeps your iPod accessible.

Incase iPod cases Incase iPod Cases ($40-$90)
