New Super Mario Bros for Nintendo Wii

The kids of the 80's are definitely loving this. And they'd be missing out on a huge come back hit if they choose to skip this experience. The favorite game of the 80's is back in the New Super Mario Bros (NSMB) for Nintendo Wii. This is a follow up to the Nintendo DS version which also became an instant hit last Christmas. I remember that Super Mario was a must have game in the Nintendo console 15 years back and Nintendo did a great job in renewing the Mario franchise with Super Mario Bros 3. 2009 will all be about the New Super Mario Bros Wii which now provides the option to have multiplayers actively playing at the very same time. Now I am thinking about tag team acts to get through the stages and deliberate pushing of your partner to sabotage the game. Up to 4 players can be playing at the same time and it is gonna look chaotic to me, but fun. No doubt about it.

I am itching to get my hands on my Wii and have a go at this all time favorite game franchise from Nintendo. Also introduced this time around are new power ups like the Ice Flower which is the opposite of the usual fireball attack. With the Ice Flower power up, you could freeze the enemy into a block and use it as an object to be thrown or pushed around. Then there's the Penguin Suit which, on top of the Ice Flower's ability, allows players to slide along the ground and across water as well as have better control on ice and in water. The Propeller Suit power up allows players to launch up into the air (fly).

This game has gathered some accolades like the IGN 2009 Wii Game of the Year Award and Best Wii Game Award at the 2009 Spike Video Game Awards besides making the biggest debut for a Wii game in Japan. And in the US, it has become the biggest seller after the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which is another humongous hit to be honest with the graphics, gameplay and everything. But to compare the New Super Mario Bros to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would not be fair considering the New Super Mario Bros is still being played in a 2D platform amid efforts by the game developer to enhance gameplay experience by having some of the characters and objects are 3D polygonal renderings on 2D backgrounds, resulting in what some people call 2.5D. Having achieved that,

Hot Deal: New Super Mario Bros $40 at Amazon with Free Shipping

Amazon has New Super Mario Bros (Wii) for $40 with free shipping. It is currently out of stock but estiamted to be back in stock on January 3, 2010. Nevertheless, this matches the $40 pricetag which Best Buy is offering now as part of Best Buy's promotion. However, it is out of stock as per Best Buy's website as well, so you  need to go to B&M to see if they have it. A quick check for my zipcode showed that the 5 nearest Best Buy stores are out. Anyway, it's cheaper if you buy this through Amazon now because you don't have to pay for tax. And don't forget your cashback through BigCrumbs.

Adidas Trovao 2 Sandals

I finally made the purchase for a new pair of Adidas sandals (Adidas Trovao 2) to replace my current Adidas CC Slide 3 which is getting pretty worn out and discolored. The Trovao 2 provides extreme comfort with the fitFOAM™ footbed that molds and shapes itself to the contours of your foot. I was initially interested in buying 2 pairs of the Trovao 2 (1 red and 1 blue) but seems like the red color one is no longer available. I had the Adidas CC Slide 3 in red and the CC Slide 2 in blue. So let the tradition live on!

Mario Kart Wii with Wii Wheel

Mario Kart Wii (with Wii Wheel) is the first game that comes into my mind for Nintendo games after Street Fighter because I used to play the Nintendo 64 version way back when I was a little boy. The battle royale style of comical racing is definitely going to bring so much fun to the players, especially the younger ones. Special Powers/Weapons/Moves/Features: Whether racing around an obstacle-filled track or battling in an arena, drifting and tossing items are the keys to Mario Kart success. Players can shake the Wii Remote while launching off a ramp to pull off a trick that will temporarily boost their speed. When riding a bike, players can gain additional speed by flicking the Wii Remote up and popping a wheelie!

The Wii Wheel provides an extra dimension to how we would normally play Mario Kart (and attack your friends) and I can see people busting out in laughters in the multiplayer mode.

Logitech Illuminated Keyboard Perfect for Nocturnal Geeks

The Logitech Illuminated Ultrathin Keyboard with Backlighting would be a perfect Christmas buy this season for some because this actually favors those who love to work in the dark with the lights off as this keyboard provides the perfect solution to them to type as per normal in daylight condition. I think I fall into that category as well. I would welcome this addition to my props as I will then no longer need to rely purely on my fingers' familiarity to the QWERTY keyboard and curse everytime I mistyped based on my typing intuition in the dark. One option which I tried was using a USB light to shine on the keyboard, but it was a glare to the eye and kind of obstructive.

This has now become an item I'd desire, too bad it is not loaded with a serious bunch of multimedia button controls, or else, it'd be a perfect match to my needs.

Merry Christmas 2009! (Grxmax)

It's Christmas day again. Boy, 2009 went by just like that. We've got the ups and downs in the economy-downturn-plagued year and also the deadly H1N1 got everyone scrambling for facemasks for a while there. I am glad everyone pushed through the tougher times and we shall now look forward to the brighter days ahead of us in the name of year 2010. Enjoy the Christmas shopping and family get togethers folks! Life is short, so cherish your loved ones and make the most out of your life. I sincerely wish you all the best that life can offer. And by the way, since everyone is shouting the Go Green slogan here and there, happy Grxmas - Green Xmas!

Apple iPhone Tire Threaded Skin

I saw this skin for the Apple iPhone which will definitely turn some heads when you whip out your iPhone. It doesn't add a sense of beauty to your iPhone, but it is very unique in its very own way. The black color tire skin works best because it looks like your having your iPhone surrounded by a tire. Item is available at Handhelditems.com.

2010 Wiishlist

We are 1 month away from ending 2009 and starting a brand new year ahead in 2010. I am putting an official entry to my 2010 list of things to own - a Nintendo Wii, finally. The Wii is the ultimate family game console which has garnered a worldwide recognition for its uniqueness among the big 3 (vs PS3 and Xbox 360). The Wii has single-handedly persuaded many WAGs (wives and girlfriends) of gamers to join the craze. One smart move made by Nintendo is by introducing health/fitness games such as the Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board which adds exercise into the list of Wii activities. Additionally, the Super Mario franchise is only exclusively available on the Nintendo platform, so I am going to starting looking into the Mario titles in the upcoming days to see which are family friendly and fun to play at the same time.I know Mario Kart Wii is definitely in the list.

Sony PSP2 Out in 2010?

Many thought the new PSP Go is going to replace the previous PSP, but Sony puzzled many by letting the PSP Go to be sold on store shelves alongside the older PSP-3000 model. This brings up the possibility that there actually will be a new PSP2 and the latest piece of news essentially confirms that there's gonna be a release for the Sony PSP2.

According to BSN, the new generation of portable technology from Sony will indeed arrive in 2010 (next year?!) and it will feature PowerVR SGX543 graphics. It has been rumored that the development works for Sony PSP2 has been ongoing since 2008 and last year, Sony unofficially announced the selection of Imagination Technologies' SGX graphics processor.
Therefore, we have a scenario whereby Sony will push forward and continue to develop the PSP Go and replace the PSP-3000 with the PSP2. That would mean there'd be 2 variants of PSP by Sony in the market concurrently (I am puzzled)... Sources informed that Sony will launch the all new PSP2 within "the next 12 months."

Amazon Deal: Tekken 6 for PS3 and XBOX - $33 Free Shipping

Amazon.com is having the game Tekken 6 for PS3 and Xbox 360 for only $32.98 with free shipping! This is the best deal seen for this game currently. Tekken 6 for PSP (not for the new UMDless PSP Go) is still at $40. If you're a true fan of the Tekken series, you might be interested in the Limited Edition which includes a limited edition Tekken 6 controller (a must-have for Tekken aficionados)

TEKKEN 6 sees the return of many familiar faces as well as new characters to create the largest line-up the series has ever seen. With a growing roster of fighters, each equipped with their own deadly techniques, martial art moves, and attack combinations, TEKKEN 6 will be the best “King of Iron Fist Tournament” yet. Adding to the already rich gaming experience, a deeper character customization feature will only enhance the incredible fighting intensity as players go mano-y-mano.

Custom Xbox 360 Elegant Edition Is Too Sleek for Mircosoft

Honestly, the Microsoft Xbox 360 itself looks pretty decent but some guy just one upped Mircosoft by making a custom Xbox 360 Elegant Edition (pic). It has lost the curves of the Xbox 360, trading for a sleek and simple design which give a less gaming impression.

Sony PS3 Firmware Update 3.10 Gives You Facebook Integration

Sony announced that the next iteration of the PlayStation 3's firmware is version 3.10 adn the biggest perk for many is that it now adds Facebook functionality to the PS3, including automatic Trophy and purchase updates. Now you can show al your Facebook friends what you've been scoring (or sucking) at your PS3. This also allows developers to include "trigger points" for Facebook integration in their PS3 games. Sony calls this Facebook service "the first phase of a variety of new features to further connect and enhance the online social experiences of PlayStation(R)3 (PS3[TM]) computer entertainment system owner." Other, less marquee features, include a new grid layout for photos and an updated friends list with the ability for users to change the background color of profiles.

This is quite a good price I would say for this bundle, so Drake's Fortune fans should snap up this deal. Earlier on, this bundle costs a whopping $499.99. It seems obvious that Sony is trying to get rid of the old stock of the non-slim PS3. This now sells for $349.99 at Amazon.com.

Yahoo! Geocities is closing on Oct 26 2009 and ending the free webhosting service. I have created a few Geocities pages and hosted some files on it, but that was quite some time ago. VLC Media Player 200% Volume Control

The latest version of the VLC media player has an interesting feature which allows the volume to be adjusted/amplified up to 200% mark.
This works best for laptop, notebook, tablet PC and netbook users who watch videos on their laptops using the built in speakers.
The popular open source multi-platform media player VLC will let you increase volume up to 200%, if you are using the volume slider. This applies even if you are increasing the volume by placing the cursor above the volume bar and using a scroll wheel or a touch pad to control volume output. But there are comments by some that the 100% is actually a gimmick! Some users claimed that they get the same volume at VLC 100% as they get for Winamp 50%

Nintendo Wii Announces Price Drop to $200

Finally Nintendo gave in to the dropping sales figures of the world's best selling gmaing console. Now, you can get the Nintendo Wii for $50 less at a very tempting price of $200. In parallel with the price drops announced by Sony for its Playstation 3, this piece of news hardly came as a surprise. Please bear in mind that Nintendo was doing exceptionally well for being the top seller, outselling Mircosoft's XBOX 360 and Sony's Playstation 3 without a single price drop until today.
Positively, this price drop announcement will definitely revive its flagging sales and get more people to own a Nintendo Wii, a revolutionary family-friendly gaming console which has garnered popularity across the globe. The 20% price drop on the Wii, which features a motion-sensor remote, will take effect Sept 27 2009.

Kensington Universal Travel Adapter with USB

It has been 4 years since I purchased the Kensington universal travel adapter from Amazon.com and I am glad that it has survived all the international travelling and sockets over the years. For $29.99, it performed to its expectations and standards. Now, with so many electrical devices offering USB charge support, I am tempted to get myself another universal travel adapter from Kensington - a newer version with a female USB port. This would allow me to plug in the general USB cable and charge my electrical devices from the power outlet around the world - extremely convenient. I see many other generic universal USB adapters on sale for cheap, but it'd be a great advantage to have the USB function incorporated into this universal travel adapter. However, there are some negative reviews posted on Amazon.com about how it failed to charge their USB devices. Now I wonder.

Sony PS3 Slim Officially Announced - Get It for $299 September 1 2009

Sony officially announced the PS3 Slim, well long after the leaked pictures made it to the world wide web. And now, everyone is happy with the latest price tag. Sony PS3is the costliest gaming console in the market compared to the XBOX 360 and Nintendo Wii. Now, Sony has decided to bring down the price to a much affordable $299. Rejoice PlayStation fans, it's time to finally own one if you haven't. The new PS3 slim is actually by design 33 percent smaller, 36 percent lighter, and comes with a 120GB hard drive. Sony redesigned the internal architecture of the new PS3 system in order to meet the new more compact form factor. This is about the same as what Sony did to the previous generation PlayStation, the PS2. The PS3 Slim is powered by a new 45nm version of the Cell processor which runs at the same speed as the 60nm processor in the "old" PS3, but is smaller and more energy-efficient. According to company reps, power consumption for the PS3 Slim has also been cut to two-thirds, "helping to reduce fan noise".

One element which changed against my liking is that the surface of the PS3 Slim is matte as compared to the classy looking shiny piano black finish of the PS3. Also, the "PLAYSTATION 3" words are no longer written across the top, replaced by "PS3". The Sony PlayStation 3 Slim is available for pre-orders from Amazon.com.

The Simple Joys of Everyday Living

Sadly, we are usually too busy pursuing career, wealth and personal satisfaction all our lives that we forget to enjoy the simple joys of everyday living. How has life changed over the past 50 years? How your parents and previous generation managed things and what now were unthinkable back then. If you stick too much to pursuing wealth "for the good of your family's future", then you're forgetting to live your life.

Apple Tablet Rumors: 2011 Launch

We might be looking at a possibility of a tablet notebook from Apple early next year. Rumor has it that the Apple Tablet, which has gone through many setbacks in its 4 years of development, is finally ready to meet its fanboys and give PC another nudge. Judging from the success of Apple in getting the Multitouch technology into such a commanding market achievement, high expectations are in place for this much awaited Apple Tablet. It can succeed where Microsoft couldn't. It could boost the tablet laptop market towards further improvements, we strongly believe. The Apple Tablet may come with 10 inch screen (most probably LED-backlighted) and 3G feature. And things will just get more interesting as we go.

Need Work, Free Resumes

I saw this piece of photo over at Yahoo! news this morning and it reminds me once again that some of us are really down deep in the whole recession thing. Many graduates are finding it hard to get a good job which matches their interest, what more to say one which pays them well. Besides that, the number of paid internships have been reduced except those of big corporations. One guy resorted to distributing his resumes at the roadside. Think on the bright side, this chap is making efforts to push himself into the market and give him credits for the creativity and willingness. Let's hope for the best for all of us.

SANYO Eneloop Lamp 3-in-1

Sanyo is squeezing 3 uses out of a single lamp. Sanyo's new Eneloop Lamp is a desk light that can also work as an emergency flashlight and even send some healing energy your way--or so the company says. Operating on rechargeable AA eneloop batteries, Sanyo's new Eneloop Lamp based on high-luminance LED technology can be situated anywhere in the room since no cords constrain the placement. Now that's flexibility. The batteries are recharged by putting the lamp unit on the charging stand. In low-white-light mode, one 12-hour charge lasts an impressive 45 hours. On the downside, it lasts only 3 hours if in high output mode. The Eneloop Lamp also features a blue lamp "Healing Light" mode that according to Sanyo "creates a healing ambience". We don't know exactly what the lamp will heal, nor have we seen any scientific data confirming this claim.

Finally, when the body is tilted 90 degrees or more, "a built-in acceleration sensor" turns the lamp into a flashlight that lasts up to 6 hours on one full charge. Sanyo suggests the flashlight be used in an emergency situations like a midnight earthquake or for more frequent day-to-day use as a handy portable light. The Eneloop Lamp goes on sale September 11, but no official price has been announced yet.

Junichi Inamoto Joins Rennes

Japanese midfielder Junichi Inamoto has signed a deal to join French Ligue 1 team Rennes from next season onwards. Inamoto shot to fame when Arsene Wenger bought him from Gamba Osaka of Japan and presented him with limited chances at Highbury. With Arsenal, he scored only 4 goals for Arsenal in his only season there, 2 of which came in Europe. At Fulham, he even managed to score a goal against Manchester United himself!

Michael Owen Joins Manchester United on Free Transfer

It's officially official. Michael Owen is a Manchester United man. Owen penned a 2 year deal with 2008 European Champions and 2009 European runner up which is rumored to be based on performance. Anyhow, with the big sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid and Carlos Tevez not signing a new deal, seems like Owen is the man Alex wants. A man with a proven goal scoring record during his Liverpool days, this seems like a fair bet. However, he hasn't been the same guy who awed everyone at 1998's World Cup with his wondergoal against Argentina. Nevertheless, this should be the best chance for him to resurrect his career.

HTC Hero ROM - Android ROM Leaked

Thanks for the guys at XDA Developers, there's a leaked HTC Hero's ROM for those who wish to play with it and test it out. This looks like a very sleek interface and hopefully I'll get a chance to test it out soon after some of the unsolved glitches are fixed (WiFi and Bluetooth don't work, the camera is all funkified). Do bear in mind that this is the 1st time we'll see Flash 10 on an Android.

It's A Blu World! Win 1 of the 5 Amazing Blu Prizes

What can I say, it's a Blu world! BluFrog is holding a big contest parallel with its nationwide promo of its Blu Frog - Wildly Healthy Energy drink. Each of the 5 prizes offered are great. And if I really had to choose one, it's gonna be a tough decision. Being a gamer myself, the BluGamer Ultimate Gaming Package is a no brainer. An Xbox 360 Elite loaded with Rock Band 2 and Call of Duty: World at War Complete Package is too hard to resist. Don't worry about going for the all night battle royale with the pals because 2 cases of BluFrog are included!

Well on a second thought, the Happy Blu-Year package brings some interest as well because I've been to New York City, but not for the ever famous new year celebrations. I've only been watching the giant crystal ball dropped live on TV every year at most. It would really check that item off my things to do before I die list once and for all. Imagine how cool would it be, right there in the Big Apple with so many people in the cold - definitely a once in a lifetime experience.

<

My 3rd option would be the Xtreme Blu package which offers a trip to the 2010 Winter X Games. Woohoo! I've seen in on ESPN on numerous occasions and it would be really satisfying to be there and witness the whole extremeness with my own eyes. This will definitely be an exciting event in Aspen Colorado and I'd be ready to snap some close up photos of Shaun White.

Check out It's A Blu World website for more info and details on how to win one of the five amazing prizes. You can either leave a comment, blog about it (like I am doing) or Twitter Tweet (like what almost everyone is doing!)

Windows Mobile 6.5 Custom ROM for My HTC Wizard Cingular 8125

Since Microsoft announced the new Windows Mobile 6.5, I believe many have been looking forward to experience it hand on. Thanks to the flexibility of the Windows Mobile platform on smartphones and PDAs, I can grab a ROM and reflash my HTC Wizard Cingular 8125 to test out what's so new in Windows Mobile 6.5, rather than just admiring its description on paper. I plan to test it out for a week and hopefully no major bug or incompatibility to my HTC Wizard which is already 3 years old and considering it was shipped originally with only Windows Mobile 5, it could make things interesting. Logically, I would expect it to be slow and sluggish when overloaded with applications, but we'll see.

Chevy Camaro Has Zune Compatibility

There was an info from Microsoft personnel that the Camaro is actually Zune compatible. Hence, they tested it in and confirmed that it works! Microsoft team had their first confirmed & successful test of Zune against a GM vehicle in the wild today. One of their staff stopped by a Chevy dealership to confirm that the new Camaro’s MP3 connectivity kit worked great with production Zunes. The test was very successful – and this culminates a considerable amount of work with both GM in Detroit and their supplier in Korea to ensure a great user experience. (Thumbs up!)
Zune connectivity is a standard feature on the all new exciting 2010 Camaro which is the first of some 28 models to support Zune as this feature is rolled out across GM models in the US, Europe, Asia and Australia through 2011.
