It's freezing cold outside today

Yeah, my cheeks were falling out as I walked from Van Vleck builiding to Mech Engr buidling this morning. As I lazily woke up this morning I was told that it's 0F outside. That wasn't the forecast I saw in Daily Cardinal yesterday. And guess what, it's gonna get to -ve F in a day or so. Yay. Bummer.

New iPod Shuffle, Now with Colors

Apple has come out with new iPod Shuffles with colors. And yeah, it's still only $79 (before tax)

I personally don't think the iPod Shuffle is that cool. No LCD screens do suck, in my humble opinions. So no way I am gonna get this for my loved ones. Not even my friends. It's just too techless for me to accept as my gift to others. Blek :P . Well, Amazon, which is one of my favorite online retailer, has not updated with the new colored iPod Shuffle. Late!@

Wisconsin Extends Winning Streak to 17

Alando Tucker scored 27 points and Brian Butch added 13 points and 14 rebounds as Wisconsin (21-1, 7-0 Big Ten) extended the nation’s longest winning streak to 17 games after defeating Iowa, 57-46, Sunday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

With the win, Wisconsin is now 21-1 to start a season for the first time in school history. The Badgers are undefeated and unbeaten on the road this season. Iowa (11-10, 3-4) loses at home for just the second time this season and sees its 12-game home winning streak in conference play come to an end.

Visit the New Spider-Man 3 Website

Sony Entertainment has updated its Spiderman 3 movie website. I am sure many of you have seen the trailer in the cinemas. For all Spidey fans out there, do check it out. Here's the face of the website.

The Pioneers Say Thanks to Bo Ryan

His full name is William Francis Ryan Jr., but in southwestern Wisconsin, only a two-letter name is ever needed: Bo.

For 15 years, Bo Ryan crouched on the sidelines at UW-Platteville's Williams Fieldhouse, turning the Pioneers into one of college basketball's true powerhouses and making the coach the most recognizeable figure around.

Saturday, UW-Platteville will say thanks by dedicating the Bo Ryan Court in Williams Fieldhouse. The Pioneers face UW-Eau Claire at 3 p.m. in an already sold-out Williams Fieldhouse. The dedication will be made at halftime.

In his five years at Wisconsin, Coach Ryan has led the Badgers to an 86-5 home record, including the current 17-game winning streak at the Kohl Center. The Badgers will accompany their coach to the game and dedication

T-Mobile myFaves Phones

For a limited time, receive a $50 T-Mobile Mail in Rebate when you order a new T-Mobile plan online. Plans need to be of at least $34.99 per month to be eligible for the rebate promotion. This T-Mobile rebate deal is valid from now through March 31, 2007. One can easily get a free T-Mobile RAZR when they sign up with a new plan deal. The best deal in my opinion is, the Blackberry Pearl. It is also free after rebates. It requires a minimum of 1 year service agreement, which I think is a heck of a deal! The T-Mobile MDA smartphoen is also free after rebates. If you're looking for a new phone or plan, do cosider these deals.

What is myFaves?
With "myFaves," subscribers can make unlimited calls to any five numbers on any network, even landlines. "myFaves for Families" rate plans do not include unlimited mobile to mobile calling or unlimited T-mobile network calling which were provided in older plans. Instead a special Unlimited Mobile-to-Mobile for Families feature is available for $9.99 per month, for up to five lines on the same FamilyTime account. Each line of service on a "myFaves for Families" rate plan can chose their own favorite five.

Second Battery Option for Fujitsu Lifebook N6410

The Fujitsu Lifebook N6410 has an option of having a second battery in place of the optical drive to give users longer battery life. This is of course optional for all.

And Acer seems to have this function in some of their computers as well and they call it the Acer MediaBay second battery which is optional as well.

but well, having a second battery surely brings a huge improvement as it doubles the usage time!

Nintendo's new flab buster

American Mickey DeLorenzo has refuted the common "no pain, no gain" notion by being the first video gamer to combine gaming with a weight loss routine. It all started out as an experiment with his fiancee, slugging it out virtually on a Wii Sports boxing game, thanks to Nintendo Wii's innovative motion-sensitive controllers.

The breath-gasping, sweat-inducing session eventually evolved into a daily 30-minute affair. This saw his weight plummeting just after a mere 21 hours of gameplay, shedding an impressive 4kg without the assistance of dieting and slimming pills. The beaming DeLorenzo has since chronicled his progress on his blog, together with charts and photos of his achievements.

The man has more than what he bargained for, receiving a job offer from a fitness Web site and making headlines online. Like American Idol reject William Hung, the entrepreneur has been quick to capitalize on his new-found fame, registering the Internet address WiiWorkout.net which links currently to his blog.

Just in case you are wondering, Nintendo has yet to contact DeLorenzo for product endorsement or any business proposition, though he reckons a workout game is probably in the pipeline from the Japanese manufacturer.

So what are you waiting for, all you diet fanatics?

Chicago miss out in Zidane swoop

Yet another high profile footballer almost lured to the MLS. This time, it's the great Zizou - Zinedine Zidane of France. Chicago Fire general manager John Guppy has confirmed the franchise made an unsuccessful attempt to lure Zinedine Zidane out of retirement. The MLS received nationwide attention after David Beckham agreed to play for LA Galaxy after his contract expires with Real Madrid this summer.

thoughts

Part of life is to love,

Part of life is to learn,

Part of life is to live.

Thinking about love, or should i say liking someone, I always have the thought that forcing someone to love you does not bring any happiness ("mien chiang mei sin fu").

Loving someone, does not mean to own them, loving someone does not mean to be jealous of someone.

Wishing the one you love to live happily ever after, whether he is with you or not, is the best gift of love.

That is what i think love is

Save up to $100 in Rebates at Hotel Reservations

Everytime the college semester comes to an end, I know it's travel time. Vacationing to the different parts of US has been really fun. And obviously, I'll need a place to stay during my vacations, which in most cases, a hotel. So I normally book a hotel room 2 weeks before my travel dates. And vacations don't coem cheap, I have to deal with airfares, accomodations, foods, attraction admission tickets and also souvenirs. Now, HotelReservations is providing great valuable information on hotels, flights, cars rentals and vacation packages and on top of that, they are currently have an ongoing promotion offering rebates up to $100 for booking your hotel rooms online! The rebates amounts are based on the number of nights that I book.

The rebate levels are as follows:
3 Nights- $20 Rebate; 5 Nights- $30 Rebate; 8 Nights- $50 Rebate; 10 Nights- $75 Rebate; 12 Nights- $100 Rebate. According to them, the hotels are guaranteed with the lowest rates with up to a whopping 70% discount. This offer only valid for stays booked by Jan 31, 2007 for travel dates through Mar 31, 2007. For those who love to plan ahead of time, this is a huge saving. I normally book hotel rooms of about 7 days. On my recent trip to Orlando Florida over the winter break, I stayed in Orlando for 7 nights. That would have qualified me for a $50 rebate if it had fallen into the promotion period.

£20m bid for Hargreaves by Manchester United

Man Utd make £20m offer for Hargreaves

Bayern Munich have received a 30 million euro bid (£19.7million) for England midfielder Owen Hargreaves from Manchester United, according to reports in Germany.

German tabloid Bild claims they have been told by Bayern president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge that an offer has been lodged.
However, Rummenigge has reiterated the club's stance that they will not do business, at least until the summer.
Rummenigge said: 'It does not come into question. In the summer we will see how things work out.'
Hargreaves, who is 26 tomorrow, confirmed the bid from the Barclays Premiership leaders.
'It's been official today that Manchester United have made an offer for me,' Hargreaves told BBC Sport.
'For a club like Man Utd to make an offer is something I appreciate.'
Hargreaves, who has 37 international caps, has been out of action since September with a broken leg but returned to training this week ahead of an expected first-team return next month.

Michael Vick and Marijuana?

Michael Vick was in the hot news again. Vick reluctantly surrendered a water bottle to security at Miami International Airport that smelled like marijuana and contained a substance in a hidden compartment. He was not arrested and was allowed to board an AirTran flight that landed in Atlanta before noon Wednesday.

It was reported that the compartment was hidden by the bottle's label so that it appeared to be a full bottle of water when held upright.

Even Jay Leno was making fun of it in his late night show.

HDMI / Home Theater Stuff

So much for the recent HDTV hype going around. The High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is an all-digital audio/video interface capable of transmitting uncompressed streams. It is a modern replacement for older analogue standards like the RCA connector.

It is clear that HD sources such as DVD players, Cable settop boxes, satellite boxes are transitioning to the HDMI standard. It is inevitable that future HD sources such as HD DVD players (HD or Blue Ray), and video game stations will utilize HDMI as the interface standard. A HDMI switch allows the end user to select multiple HDMI sources, such as DVD players, settop boxes, into 1 HD monitor.

FoxyTunes - Control Your favorite Media Players in Firefox

I just installed Foxytunes into my Fireox 2.0
Strangely, I booted up my laptop last night, my Firefox was gone. I checked the inside Program Files, the Mozilla Firefox folder is empty and when I tried to open it, it says the folder is not accessible, corrupted and unreadable. WTF!

Hence, I had no choice but to download and install the new Firefox 2.0 (yay, an upgrade)
And I was brought to the page with Themes and Extensions, so heck, I browsed over some extensions and came across FoxyTunes.

Do you listen to music while surfing the Web? FoxyTunes is a free browser add-on that allows you to control your favorite media players without ever leaving the browser

Wisconsin Basketball Fans - Top 5 in Country

Wisconsin: The Grateful Red, which came after the Bleacher Creatures, rocks to the best band in the country either on the field or the court, and seems to be unison during every cheer. They've created one of the best home courts in the country. Look at the Kohl Center record for proof that the students matter in Madison.

Logitech MX Duo

I am selling my LogitechMX Duo, my 2nd set of MX Duo in as many years. The 1st set was refurbished but it was doing perfectly fine until the flood, yeah the flood destroyed half of me back then.
This second set works perfectly fine as well, bought it used for $35.

I really like the keyboard of the MX Duo. Feels good to type in, and the multimedia key functions really are easy to use and do come in handy when playing media files. The mouse is a little bit heavy and it uses 2 AA batteries. The charging dock provides an easy way to recharge the drained batteries.

MMS Download Softwares

I was looking for some MMS feed downloading softwares when I stumbled upon Netants. I used Netants before and I do remember that it is one of the few softwares to offer the Malay language. Well, so I downloaded it, believing it will meet my need to saving MMS feed streams. But it doesn't seem to work on me now as it gave a bad url message when I plug in the target mms location. So beat me.

You can get a copy of Netants at
http://www.netants.com/download/netants.zip

PC Mover by Laplink

I recently ordered 5 copies of Laplink's PC Mover migration software from Dell. It says on the box, "The easiest way to move into a new PC" . Each box comes with a genuine Laplink USB cable to easily perform the migration.

PC Mover is to be installed in both the old and new PCs and with a few clicks, your programs, files and settings will all be transferred to your new PC!
So if I do get a new computer as planned, I wouldn't have to reinstall all the programs and back-up my files to be transferred. PC Mover might just turn out to be mytime saving tool that I need@!

HDTV, Plasma TV, LCD

Seriously, I don’t have a HDTV. How disgusting is that? At least I know that the NFL and Bowl Games and March Madness have the capacity to deliver the jaw-dropping clarity of High-Def provided through ESPN and ABC that I’ve been missing my whole life and I’m not even talking about watching porn yet.

I was browsing around the website and I saw this: Sony KDS-55A2000 Grand WEGA 55' SXRD 1080p Rear Projection HDTV. This is the type of HDTV screens that grab my attention whenever I go to the Sony Stores. You know, where they setup the whole thing and you just sit down and be amazed the the quality of both audio and video that is being presented to you as a potential buyer. Having widescreen HDTV screens has always been a target for me, be it in the living room , the bedroom or even in the bathroom if you're that loaded.

The other one which is similarly interesting is the Samsung HL-S4266W 42' DLP HDTV. I like those without the visible stand which lets you see the wall behind it. All the way down and box-like appearance suits me best. Samsung HL-S4666W 46' DLP HDTV would probably be a nice catch as well.

Check out some of the listings available online. This site really has lotsa of HDTVs and reviews avaialble, also feedback ratings from buyers.

Coming up is the so called next generation IPTV is “Internet Protocol television”, and refers to video content delivered over a network instead of broadcast over terrestrial towers, satellites, or cable systems. The rapid growth of YouTube and the sale of network broadcast show episodes over iTunes demonstrate clearly that people are ready to start getting at least some of their entertainment video content over the Internet.

At CES in Las Vegas, Microsoft announced an upgrade to the XBox 360 game console so that it can access video content on the Web and display it on a television. And at MacWorld, Steve Jobs unveiled “Apple TV” (the box formerly known as “iTV”) which combines video, still photo, and music storage on a 40 GB hard drive so it can act as an entertainment server. It also supports wireless networking connections.

Wisconsin Ranks #2 in AP Polls

Wisconsin men's basketball rose to no.2 spot in the latest AP polls released. This is somewhat expected after the teams above them suffered a loss in the week. That is the best position in Wisconsin men's basketball history. Could this be the best season ever? Just like what happened to the Wisconsin football team? We'll see when March looms. Stay tuned.

Wisconsin Up To No. 2 In Latest Poll
MADISON, Wis.-
The Wisconsin men’s basketball team is ranked second in the latest Associated Press poll, released Monday afternoon. That is the highest ranking in school history.
The Badgers received 1,722, including 21 first-place votes, to place them behind Florida, who returns to the top position following North Carolina’s loss over the weekend. The Tarheels fell to fourth behind No. 3 UCLA. Kansas rounds out the top five.
The Badgers are off to a 17-1 start this season, tying the school record for best start. UW has also won 13 consecutive games, tied for the longest active streak in the country.

In the latest ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ Poll, the Badgers moved up one spot to third. UW received two first-place votes. Florida and UCLA are ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.

7 Best Airports to Get Stuck In

I found this info pretty interesting

7 Best Airports to Get Stuck In

If you do much flying at all, you know that eventually you're going to get stuck somewhere. There are some airports where you'll find so much to do, you might not be ready to leave when your flight finally is! If you're headed to any of these airports anytime soon, be sure to use the Gusto Grabber to bookmark them!

Hong Kong International Airport
This ultramodern airport is located on a man-made island, and its floor-to-ceiling windows provide stunning views of Hong Kong Bay. You can get a whole new look at the beauty salon or do some serious shopping (the tax-free shopping options here are great!). The napping rooms provide a quiet haven for the weary, and if you're really stuck here for a while, just check into the Regal Airport Hotel, considered the best airport hotel in the region.

Singapore Changi International Airport
You might actually want to get stuck here. This pristine airport has a swanky rooftop pool, Jacuzzis, a spa and beauty salon, excellent duty-free shopping, a grocery store, a movie theater that shows movies 24 hours a day - for free! - live bands, and, if you want to release your inner rock star, a karaoke lounge. If you wear yourself out taking advantage of all these options, just go curl up in the official napping corner; the cozy, slumber-friendly chairs have alarm clocks built into them.

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport
This airport, considered on of Europe's best, has excellent duty-free shopping options, and you can take all the money you saved in the shops to the airport's casino to try you luck. You'll also find a children's play area, widespread Internet access and showers. The airport's hotel rents rooms by the hour, so you can sleep in peace without having to pay for an entire night.

San Francisco International Airport
The San Francisco Airport Museums comprises some 20 galleries throughout the airport, and the exhibitions change regularly, so even frequent fliers will enjoy the change of scenery. There are some great shopping options - you can snap up some accessories at Gucci or pick up any cosmetics you might've left behind at Sephora - and several of the restaurants are so good they're truly fitting for a city known as a foodie's haven.

Auckland International Airport
Anyone who's traveled with little ones will appreciate the nursery rooms, which have changing tables and cots for catching a little shuteye, and the child care center. Kiddies can also play mini-golf, visit the petting zoo at the outdoor playground, or get creative in the Lego activity center. They should be ready for a good, long nap once you're on the plane. Mom and Dad, meanwhile, will enjoy the cozy couches, mini-theater, and shopping and dining options.

Denver International Airport
Thousands of passengers who were stuck there last month might disagree with us, but this visually appealing airport wins high marks for its Public Art Program, which ensures that you'll always have something interesting to gaze upon. There is a good selection of shops here, and you'll find several dining options that are plenty palatable.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport
It can sometimes be tough to catch your connecting flight in this massive airport (hint: if you're truly desperate, you can probably get an employee to give you a lift on one of the carts they zip around in). But the sheer size of the place means that if you time to kill, you won't be bored. The shopping and dining options are extensive, and most stay open late.

Move over Kobe, Beckham is coming to LA

yes, the biggest sports superstar is no longer you Kobe. David Beckham is set to set LA alive. $250 million dollars for 5 years contract. But on ESPNews, only 40% of voters say that they will more likely to watch MLS than before. After the news was announced, LA Galaxy sold more than 2000 season tickets. Figure that out.

Half.com coupon: $5 off $50 for new customers

Half.com coupon: $5 off $50 for new customers
The new semester is around the corner, yeah back to school. Sometimes holidays are worse than school.
Half.com cuts $5 off orders of $50 or more for new customers via coupon code "SAVEBIGNOW". It's among the few discounts we've seen from Half.com, an online marketplace that sells textbooks, books, movies, music, video games, and more. Deal ends February 27.

Beckham Moves to MLS

Yes it's official. David Beckham is leaving Real Madrid after his contract expires this July 1st and he has agreed a 5 year deal with LA Galaxy in MLS (USA). He has always said that he would like to end his career of football in the US. I didn;t expect it to be so soon. Shocking? Yes. But It's not a bad move, considering he's coming to the US!

David Beckham will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season and join side Los Angeles Galaxy on a £128m five-year deal - which works out at a mere half-a-million pounds a week. The former England captain will leave Real in June and begin his new career in MLS in August.

Tech: New Torrent Probe

Torrent Probe is the newest metasearch engine. It displays the popular searches on the frontpage below the search box. The layout of the page is simple (which is definitely a plus) and there are no advertisements or annoying pop ups. Search results are pretty neat and tidy as well.

Overall, a decent and easy to use torrent metasearch engine.

I am letting my PNY 512MB USB flash drive go. It used to be sufficient for my everyday use. But now, 512MB is a little too little for my needs. I have 2 units of 1GB USB flash drives right now, both of Sandisk.
Before seliing it off to a suitable buyer-user, I thought I would give it a farewell review.

It comes with a USB cable, lanyard, USB flash drive itself and instruction manual (not that you need it anyways). Warranty information is also included but I really don't think you would need it at all. I have my Sandisk Micro drowned in the flood but it turned out to be fully functional after it's dried off. Yay!

Easy to use, plug and play. Greeb LED lights up upon connection and data transfer. Overall, just pretty much like any other USB flash drive in the market. Typical features. Would make a great use to those who still live in the floppy age.

Jan 4th - End of Vacation

This is the last day we are gonna be in Orlando. A fine day with not-so-hot weather to start off. Had brunch at IHOP just opposite the hotel. Checked out at 1pm and proceeded to the airport. The trip home is always less fun. I can't agree more.

Wednesday, Seaworld

Seaworld Orlando is a place which I did not visit during my last vacation to Orlando.
This time, I made it there and saw Shamu, twice. The whole park is pretty big, to my surprise. Finished the whole day until the park closes at 6pm. And it only started to rain like 15 minutes before 6pm. So thank God that it wasn't raining when we were having fun :)
