Wiscard Now Officially Sucks

I was starting to use my Wiscard actively this semester as they are some balance in my card. I used it to buy afternoon snacks and drinks for me and my baby. Last week, I realized that my balance's running low,so I decided to reload it using a $10 VISA gift card which I received from FreeRide. A few things that I discovered:

1) They revamped the website, and old logins are not usable anymore. So i had to register my account again.Fine.

2) Now online deposits have service charge fees! WTF! Yeah, I wanted to reload $10 but I'd only get $8 coz they are freaking charging me $2 to use it. Screw Wiscard. It's like robbing me of 2 bottles of Snapple Lime.

What is NSFW

NSFW - means Not Safe For Work

Came across this term when searching for Antonella's scandal, which is hot on E!News for the past couple of days :)

Companies and universities frequently adopt such policies because they regard the presence of sexually explicit images as a misuse of company property (or education resources) and, potentially, a violation of sexual harassment policy.

AA to D Battery Converter

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
I have the need of buying 4 D size alkaline batteries every month or so to pump my airbed. As time grows, the amount of batteries I need to buy would have accumlated to the cost of the airbed itself soon. So I thought of buying rechargable D batteries, but they aren't cheap. Then I thought of buying the case converters which place one or two AA size alkaline batteries in the case and acts like a D size battery. Here is the solution: This “shell” opens up to reveal a slot for the smaller (AA) battery. However, there is one drawback, you won’t get much juice out of it, as AA batteries average 1500mAH (some rechargable nowadays go up to 2500mAH)— compared to 8,000mAH for a D battery. So it is not advisable for me to put 2 AA batteries which will underpower the motor of the pump.

What's The Big Deal of Being No.1?

Heck yeah it's a big of a deal. It's everywhere.

We are still no.1! And Sunday is the big game. It's not the KOHL Center, but the Badgers will spring into Columbus with a mission in mind -- to be the undisputed no.1 seed of Big Ten Conference.

Wednesday, February 21, 2007

We're Are Still No.1!

Yes, we lost to a Drew Neitzel inspired Michigan State team in East Lansing on Tuesday night. However, the rankings don't change until next week. And hopefully by then, we have beaten Ohio State to be the undisputable no.1 seed from Big Ten COnference to the Big Ten and NCAA tournament.

Loyalty, Hustle and Respect.
Go Badgers!

Tuesday, February 20, 2007

We're No. 1!

Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball team is ranked on top of the AP Polls for the first time in school history. Wisconsin boasts the nation's most wins and best wining percentage going into the game vs Michigan State tonight. Standing atop of the Big Ten conference followed closely by Ohio State, which is ranked no. 2 in the AP Polls. The Coaches polls have OSU at no. 1 and WIS at no. 2.

With the two best teams in the country ranked 1-2, the mouthwatering clash in Columbus this Sunday, yes, it's Ohio State vs Wisconsin this very Sunday, would be a true game of the year.

Windows Mobile 6 Unveiled

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usMicrosoft unveiled its latest Windows Mobile 6 on February 8th 2007 in Barcelona. Codenamed Crossbow, it's the new mobile operating system from Microsoft that succeeds Windows Mobile 5. There will be three editions again, but they've been renamed as Classic (formerly known as Pocket PC Edition), Standard (Smartphone Edition), and Professional (Pocket PC Phone Edition).Windows Mobile 6 also builds in support for Windows Live instant messaging and e-mail. I don't see any eye-popping upgrades. It's not the XP-to-Vista type of upgrade, it looks to me that it is more like of a SP1-to-SP2 type upgrade.

Some quick highlights:

Ability to view e-mail in original HTML format
Enhanced Mobile Office Suite allows for viewing and editing documents
Windows Vista synchronization
Windows Live for Mobile: services include mail, messenger, search, and contacts
Calendar Ribbon for easily viewing your day or week's schedule
Nine new one-click e-mail shortcuts, including Reply-all, Moving messages to subfolder, and Delete
Call history associated with Contacts
"One-click easy" Internet Sharing option for using a smart phone as a laptop modem
Information Rights Management
Easier VoIP integration (more for the device manufacturers and carriers)

PPP New Segmentation System

PPP has now implemented a new segmentation system to categorize opps into different levels. Some opps are getting higher and higher payout, so these kind of opps are limited to websites with huge exposure and reader base. Exposure level would heavily depend on the Google PageRank and also Alexa's ranking. This is to reward people with high traffic sites which in turn, logically, provide more exposure of contents to the web readers out there. Low traffic will still have their opps, just maybe less a bit. It is getting more and more famous for people to make money blogging nowadays.
Posts can incorporate the ideas of the opps and be relevant at the same time. Instead of just trying to ramble his way to the main point, it is much better to have something really relevant to the general content of the posts as in this way it covers the readers better. Catching the same group of readers which are the actually targeted groups of readers. That will make the opps more effective and useful. Reaching to the right people is the key to idea of providing these opps to us: in order to reach out to the right and focused group of readers. PPP requires disclosure of opps so that it is clear among all.

Ugly Bluetooth Headset

I have this ugly Bluetooth headse, a generic brand one. So much uglier compared to my previous Motorola Wireless Bluetooth headset, which I don't know where I kept it. The Motorola one came free with my Motorola V600 a few years ago. Yeah, worth $100 back then, lol.

Apples Warns iTunes Users to Wait on Vista

Yeah, you heard that right. According to Apple, iTunes users who upgrade to Windows Vista may encounter problems running their iTunes software program. Due to some unreported compatibility issues, Apple is encouraging Windows-based iTunes users to wait on upgrading to Vista until the new version of the iTunes music software is released "in the next few weeks."
So I dont know why are they doing this. But listen to this: Ejecting an iPod from a computer using Vista's "safely remove hardware" feature could corrupt the contents of the iPod (yikes!)

Beckham Scores in Winning Return

David Beckham returned to the Real Madrid squad and starting line up for the first time in 6 game following his decision to join the LA Galaxy in the summer instead of extending his professional contract with Real Madrid. Beckham fired a 37th-minute free-kick around the Sociedad wall which crept under Claudio Bravo to pull Real Madrid level after trailing to an early Mikel Aranburu goal. This is a much fans welcomed u-turn of Real Madrid head coach Capello who had previously stated that Beckham wouldn't be considered for the squad since he has signed a contract with another club and said his heart will not be with Real. Bullcrap. Capello and the Real Madrid boards are an arrogant, ignorant and egoistic group of people who let the personal feuds take over the responsibility to field the best starting 11 to win a game - exactly the reason why the fans paid their tickets for.

Sony to Unify PS3 and PSP?

Phil Harrison revealed that the PS3 and PSP would eventually be fully functional online marriage. As of now, it's not quite there.

Imagine unifying both platforms, PS3 and PSP. But don't expect total game integration coz there's no way you would wanna play a PSP game on PS3 and HDTV. Oh no, you would not.

Harrison believes the PSP is a great platform for developers, and says Sony is putting a big emphasis on the handheld's capabilities, and not just in relation to the PS3. He says there have been "missed opportunities" with the PSP, saying that despite having the ability to portray PS2-quality games, developers just haven't gone that far.

Yes, it seems to be the case for me.Coz some of the games' quality are still sub-par and not what a true portable media enthuthiast was expecting.

The weekend is here

The weekend is here again. there's some catching up to do in terms of getting on par with my schedule if not ahead. This semester, I will have 10 grades thanks to 10 different classes. And 3 of them are almost sure to be A's unless I screw things up.
How I wish I was bright enough to get a 4.0 GPA in a 10-class 20 credits semester. Daydreaming.

PSP 3.03 Homebrewed!

On January 28th 2007, the Noobz team reporved themselves as the best of homebrew coding as they released a 3.03 downgrader, 3 days after they found a goofy exploit which exists in firmwares 2.00 through 3.03

Now PSP users can downgrade their PSP's to homebrew capable 1.5
Alternatively, there's a Homebrew Enabler (HEN) for firmware 3.03. In this situation, the patch runs permanent until the machine is reset. Cool and slick!

Failed to Fabricate a Functional Fiber Optic

Yeah, in the lab today, my fabricated fiber optic cable did NOT work. The there's no transmission of the infra red signal from the infra red torch. I probably crippled the fiber optic itself when I was doing the clamping. Hands were shaky :(
But it's pretty fun though, to make it from scratch. Yeah it's just as simple basic one but still, it's my first.

Sony Ericsson to unveil new Walkman and Cyber-shot phones

Many of my friends use Sony Ericsson's walkman phone they introduced last year. Now, the same maker looks set to continue its success from last year with new additions to its popular Walkman and Cyber-shot handset series. Products announcement is scheduled for next Tuesday (February 6)2007 and I am sure many SE fans can't wait to see what's new from them.
While not much details were revealed, our best guess is that Sony Ericsson will finally showcase the slim W880i, which is rumored to come with onboard 3.2-megapixel camera, FM radio and a whopping 2GB storage. If I ever get this huge of a storage capacity, I'd never need to buy extra media cards anymore.
The company first unveiled teaser images of the W880i at the Las Vegas-based CES tradeshow earlier this year. We are also expecting to see Cyber-shot phones with possibly 5-megapixel sensors, optical zoom and even GPS. Stay tuned for more updates after the media event.

I'm a Savvy Traveler!

Recently I took a fun travel survey and this is the outcome of it:

Four-star hotels. Shopping sprees. Fine dining. For you, traveling is all about indulgence. Leaving the comforts of home doesn't mean leaving your love of luxury. In fact, you probably enjoy the spoils of a vacation more than most.
Admit it, you like the finer things in life, especially when you're rewarding yourself with a getaway. And you know that giving yourself a few special treats will make the trip more memorable and worthwhile. So go ahead, order the dessert, relax with a massage, unwind in roomy first-class seats. That's how you savor the experience. Ahh.

I like luxury, especially during vacations, coz they are supposed to be the best for you, out of the hectic busy everyday schedule.

Favre Back for Packers 2007 Season

Brett Favre is back. Packers general manager Ted Thompson said the three-time MVP called him to say he was "going to give it another shot" and return for his 17th NFL season — thus bringing his now-annual flirtation with retirement to an end far earlier than he had in the previous two offseasons.

This means, the Green Bay Packers would have a 37-year-old quarterback and does the cheese nation really think that Favre could really steer the 0.500 Packers to another Super Bowl? I hope not. Coz they'll be disappointed come January 2008. Yes, again.

Favre has started 257 consecutive games including the playoffs, an NFL record for quarterbacks. Favre broke Dan Marino's record for career completions (4,967) in 2006 and is closing in on Marino's marks for career touchdown passes (420) and yards passing (61,361).
As he has done in the past several offseasons, Favre returned to his home in Mississippi after the season to deliberate about his future. Last year, Favre waited until late April to tell the team he was returning.

Vista Laptops: Cheaper to Get From DELL?

Windows Vista is finally out and ready for consumers. No longer in Beta. And I think it is a good time for many people to upgrade their OS, buy a new computer, to be precise. Vista laptops are available and are pretty affordable now, I remember Office Depot have a few Vista installed laptops under promotion this week (after rebates). I am looking at Dell laptops, cause they are cheaper and there's no rebate hassle. Furthermore, I could use Dell coupon codes which would then save me some more money, or you can look at it as getting free upgrades instead of the discount. The coupon codes are available for other merchants as well.

Verizon Rejected Apple iPhone Deal

Did you guys hear that Verizon Wireless was actually given the chance to supply iPhone to its consumer as well? However, they turned down that offer. They actually turned down an offer to provide potential future customers of a totally next gen phone, the iPhone. Now Cingular Wireless is the exclusive carrier of the iPhone, due to be released in June this year. I believe because of this, Cingular would gain a lead in new customer base because they are just those die hard Apple fans or geeks who wouldn't really care which carrier they're on as long as they get hold of their beloved iPhone. From the early buzz and Steve Jobs' keynote presentation, the iPhone is pretty impressive I must say.

plan for the future

As you can see, with the exception of paying off your debts, your financial timeline will be an ongoing commitment. The more room you have to operate in your monthly budget -- that is, the more money you can channel into savings and investments -- the more money you’ll have later. If you plan wisely, a bump in the road will be just that -- a bump. But if you fail to put money away, your plans could derail. Remember: The more money you’re able to put away today, the sooner you’ll be able to claim your financial freedom and start enjoying all your hard work.

No.2 Wisconsin Falls to No.25 Indiana

Wisconsin's nation long 17 game winning streak came to an end last night at the hands of the Indiana Hoosiers. Wisconsin now shares the Big Ten lead with Ohio St. at 7-1 and Indiana improved to 6-2. Wisconsin's ranking is projected to drop to about no.5 or no.6,as what happened to the then no.2 UCLA when they lost.

Top 10 Phones of 2006

Year 2006 was another breakthrough for the cell phone industry. More smartphones were introduced and consumers are getting more and more used to them. However, there is still a lot of room for improvement. Windows Mobile 5 presented a new oppoturnity for users to be mobile and have many things done on just their cell phone. I won a Motorola Q from a Microsoft contest. And I already own a Cingular 8125, which is a PDA phone/Smartphone. There are the best, there are the worst. Forget about the latter, let's have a look at Wirefly's top 10 cell phones.
Wirefly has listed the top 10 phones of 2006. Consumers had their say in this and it is really based on the consumers. The Motorola RAZR is the no.1 phone of 2006. In fact,RAZR occupied the top 3 spots there (just with different carriers). It's not surprising as you can see RAZR's popping up in everyone's hands and pockets as we progress along the year. The RAZR is a slick and stylish phoen that truly deserves the credit.
