Yesterday was hell of a day. I took the early flight from Madison at 7.20am, hoping to arrive at Washington DC by 2pm and have some time to go around. But I was one of the unfortunate victims of NorthWest Airline's mechanics going on strike. My flight to Baltimore at 10.20am was cancelled 20 minutes after they said it would be delayed. Then I asked for an arrangement o the replacement flight to Ronald Reagan Airport at 1.55pm instead, only to later find out that it was cancelled as well. I looked at the screens and saw flights to DC area (BWI, Reagan, Dulles) are all cancelled. Then they put me on the 5.24pm flight to Baltimore, with arrival time being 6.57pm, which would enable me to make it to the AND1 Mix Tape Tour at 7.30pm at the MCI center. HOWEVER, after the plane reversed onto the airway, the pilot annouced that they had to dump some thing and need to have the water refilled or something like that. The mechanic strike effect was evident. That took another hour before the plane finally went airborne. Arrived at 8.15pm, missed my amtrak to downtown DC. By the time I reached DC, it was 9.30pm, the show at MCI Center was already over.
Bought 2 burgers at Union Station, and went to check in to my hotel. It was 11pm. A total of 9 hours delay time and 2 missed tickets. And also a wasted Friday. And that really sucks.
The shitty apology pack they gave me:
