Wiscmail Sucks, Lots of SPAM
I hate using Wiscmail now. With the amount of spam and unrelated mailings from other University departments, I wish I could get the mails in Wiscmail get forwarded to my other accounts. That's why I use Thunderbird to check my wiscmail for new messages only, and I won;t have to view the junk mail folder.
After I graduate, I'll lose my account and all me emails and attachments along.
What's the point of keeping them all tight together now when you know they'll be gone in the near future?

Tech: New 2nd Generation iPod Nano this August?
According to ThinkSecret, http://www.thinksecret.com/news/0607ipodnano2.html , Apple is due to release the 2nd genenration of iPod Nano in next month's Worldwide Developers Conference. How true is that? I would say it's about time to get my sis a Nano for her sending off to Australia. It feels good to be techy. Trust me. It does. Well, back to the main story.
We'll all find out during CEO Steve Jobs' keynote presentation on August 7th 2006. A 6th gen iPod is not expected to be announced. Quote:
"Apple introduced the 5G iPod with a 2.5-inch display and video playback capabilities last October. The company has since been hard at work on the sixth-generation iPod, which will feature a 3.5-inch touch-screen display. Apple was originally targeting an early-to-mid 2006 release of the new iPod and was hoping to launch the device alongside the new movie offerings at the iTunes Music Store, but the company has encountered technical obstacles that have since pushed the release back to early 2007. "
In a nutshell, the core of the rumors is that the 2nd gen iPod Nano is gonna have a 6GB and 8GB capacity, and comes with multiple colors, as well as a metal alloy casing.
Start saving money peeps!

07/16 the showcase
On Sunday, with me being sleep deprived, losing money in Alonso's 2nd place finish in the French GP, having to wake up in the morning to earn my $36.40 pay, I had to prepare dinner for my bunch of friends. Hugely disappointed by the absence of pork liver and also a 3 days tally of only 6 hours of sleep, I am looking forward to a fresh week ahead of me.
Still, something appeared in my mind. Do I really just know how to cook 1 soup? Coz when I found out that I wouldn't be able to put pork liver soup into Sunday's menu, I felt dumb coz I couldn't come up with a replacement soup. But still not dumber than dumb blonde. Dinner took place as usual with my 2 dishes. Good enough, not excellent. I live in a family with low expectations, so dinner was good.
Over the weekend, I rediscovered my touch(es). I rediscovered my primary 5-6 badminton flairs. I rediscovered my long abandoned cooking, erm, talents aspirations?. Somehow, I felt that I rose from the dead useless world. Having losing the determination of my 15 year-old, having losing the diligence of my 17 year-old, I somehow felt rejuvenated. I wonder how long this feeling is gonna last. Coz I don't want it to last too long. Coz that just means I'm not taking control.
**You know what, it's time for dinner, so fuck this. When life gets tough, grab a blankie. Sleep on it.

Buying a camera soon? Which one?
I myself is looking for a new camera within the next 3 months to replace my worn out Sony T-7.
Price is always a factor, but isn't the camera features the #1 factor in choosing the next camera? Either you sit your ass down and wait the deals to come to you, or you make your own move to research more about a few cameras in your shortlist and decide which is the best candidate as your next camera!
If you have subscriptions to computer & technology magazines (like I do), flip through the last couple of issues and see if they had any review of any of the currently hot cameras. Don't have subscriptions in your mailbox? Fret not. There's always the internet. This is our best bet. Odds must be low (like 1.02?)
Online reviews would have the important information of the performance of each model of camera and thus making it easy for us consumers to dig our brain and decide.
Try http://www.digitalcamerareview.com
It has a good database of camera lists and multiple links to multiple reviews on other sites. A brief check on my Sony T-7, there are six review links available.
Review Title Review Site Review Date
Sony DSC T7 Review Cameras.co.uk 9/18/2005
Sony Cyber Shot DSC-T7 CNet - ZDNet 6/29/2005
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T7 Imaging Resource 7/12/2005
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T7 PCMag.com 9/14/2005
Sony DSC-T7 Review Pocket-Lint.co.uk 4/20/2005
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T7 Steve's Digicams 9/15/2005
Also, you can click on the View Opinions tab and read the feedbacks from consumers regarding the model of camera you're looking at. Sounds good? Now go get yourself a new camera coz I think many of us need some technology overhauling. Stop using that outdated bulky camera of yours and get back into the trend.

Firefox Bookmarks Disappear (Lost)
It was the 3rd time in as many months. Firefox 'lost' its bookmarks. Had to go through the profiles and retrieve from the backup folder. That (referring to Firefox) was shitty. Even though I reinstated the bookmarks from the backup folder, I still had to rearrange my toolbar filder since it overlaps and I can't delete the default toolbar folder in Bookmarks. So, I had to drag the ones I had (the ones I should have!) into the new empty default folder.
Stupid Firefox. How can you lose you're bookmarks?

TV: NBC's Windfall. What would you spend the $ on?
NBC's Windfall
Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to become a millionaire overnight? A group of 20 friends and acquaintances is about to find that out as they win $386 million in lottery on NBC's hot summer drama, Windfall.
This is one of the younger generation drama addressing the issues and challenges we face in life. I managed to grab a few episodes, but I missed the air date (premiere). Just like What About Brian? and Grey's Anatomy, it entertains me with the cycle of life.
And it also pointed one very important thing out; money changes everything.
I don't see my friends staying the same with all the money they've got, even though I really hope money wouldn't be the devil in our relationships. More than often, money splits love and sours relationships, coz money talks.
About(From NBC's website):
From executive producer Laurie McCarthy (“Felicity,” “CSI: Miami”) comes “Windfall,” an hour drama that follows 20 lottery winners after their unexpected good fortune. Each winner's reaction is different and the overwhelming cash windfall presents unexpected marital, ethical, legal – and even criminal problems.
At the center is a close-knit foursome who have known each other since college when the “wrong” spouses were in love. Luke Perry (“Beverly Hills, 90210”) stars as Peter Schaefer, a devoted husband to Nina (Lana Parrilla, “Boomtown”) and father of two. Parrilla finds herself in a complicated relationship with Cameron Walsh, played by Jason Gedrick (“Boomtown”). Sarah Wynter (“24”) plays Cameron's loving but suspicious wife.
A relative stranger to their circle is D.J. Cotrona (“Skin”) as Sean Mathers, who finds that winning the lottery threatens to expose a dark secret in his past. Also, for Damien Cutler (Jon Foster, “The Door in the Floor”), a rebellious teen, winning the cash means he is set free from his parents -- with millions in his pocket. Alice Greczyn (“The Dukes of Hazzard”) stars as Frankie, a 16-year old girl whose separated parents' newfound wealth sets off a marital war.
In addition, Kimberly George (Malinda Williams, "Soul Food") is a 22-year-old single mother whose winning the lottery gives her the opportunity to start a new life and leave the trailer park behind. Rounding out the cast is Jaclyn DeSantis (“Road Trip”), who plays Maggie Hernandez, a nurse who can't wait to spend her winnings.

Sports: Ben Wallace leaves Pistons for Bulls
Chicago Bulls fans can look ahead to a successful season with the latest addition of Ben Wallace to their team. Big Ben is a 4 time Defensive Player of the Year winner and will certainly add more strength to the Bulls defense. He is set to turn Chicago Bulls into an Eastern Conference powerhouse once more.

Sports: Puma V5.06 Grass Soccer Ball (size 5)
I was browsing through Amazon when I saw this Puma V5.06 Grass Soccer Ball (size 5) for $19.80. It has the grass design on the panels. Very good looking and extremely unique in my opinion. I couldn't imagine this ball rolling on the field with the camouflage effect. Sweet!

Food: I made it to White Castle Indianapolis
Remember that retarded movie Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle? Before that I did not know a bit about White Castle. That movie enlightened me that it's a fast food place.
On my Indianapolis trip for Formula 1 (US Grand Prix) last weekend, we stopped by White Castle on our way to the Practice and Qualifying sessions on Saturday morning. It was my first time stepping into a White Castle. There's no White Castle in Madison, not even the whole Wisconsin. The nearest one would be in Chicago, Illinois. But from the info on White Castle's website, I see that I can buy White Castle Frozen Food from grocery store like Copps and Sentry.
The Hamburger, Cheeseburger and Doublecheese burger are awesome, topped with garlic cheese. Smells good, tastes good, good food. The serving size is a little small compared to my regular McChicken, but it fits my hands perfectly.
For those who has not been to White Castle, start off by visiting http://www.whitecastle.com to find out more on why Harold & Kumar go to White Castle. Probably I'll do the same stunt one day.

Tech: Thunderbird Me!
I just installed Mozilla Thunderbird on my computer today. I hope it will ease up on my email-checking duties.
I used Microsoft Outlook Express on my lousy Windows 98SE back home for TMnet's webmail and never really liked it. By the way, TMnet sucks donkey balls. Bad customer service and cut throats.
I chose Thunderbird over Outlook Express because Thunderbird is cool, stable and popular, while Outlook Express has none of those.
Now I can check my Wiscmail, my 3 Yahoo's, my 4 Gmail's and my 3 Hotmail's in the same freaking window at the same time. Hurray!

Bicycle's Notice of Abandonment
I got this notice of abandonment on my bike a few weeks back. I parked my bike at the parking lot and when I was done with my class, my bike was tagged with this crap. Totally ridicilous. A mere 2.5 hours seemed like as if I had abandoned my bike there.

Tech: iCall - Free VoIP 2.0 - Better than Skype?
I am sure many of you are familiar with Skype, who took the VOIP by storm by offering free and easy PC-to-Phone calls using existing internet connections.
Then there's iCall (http://www.icall.com), a software similar to Skype, and dubbed by many as the Skype killer. iCall states that it is the only VOIP provider giving completely free calls to the USA and Canada for all internet users (not just those in the USA like Skype). That should draw some attention and attract some fan base, especially those who have close friends and relatives living up north.
iCall has free inbound access numbers in almost every US area code. They currently have inbound local access numbers in 187 area codes. Just have your friends call one one of them and enter your iCall extension, and you're through! Missing calls while you're away to Math class or while you're taking a shower? Now iCall has free personalised voicemail to take care of that.
The current version is 2.0.0.28
File size: 1.52MB (approxiamtely 1 minute on DSL/cable)
Installation was a breeze. The user interface is simple (very good) and easy to use. I bet my grandma will have no problem using it! And they are running a promo now with a daily winner getting an iPod when you call the "free iPod" number preset in iCall. Winners will be posted in the forums. They are also running a referral program where you'll be entered for the $100 daily draw after you refer 5 people to sign up with iCall. (http://www.icall.com/refer/geckoseiya)

Movies: All spiderfans of Spiderman 3 (teaser)
May 4th is still a long wait for all spiderfans out there (me inclusive).
I bet all excited spiderfans out there have already seen the teaser trailer available here.
Sony's Spiderman 3 website provides little info to satisfy spidey fans' appetite.
In the meantime, spiderfans, you all can take some time (while waiting for May 4th 2007) to check how much you know about Spiderman. Are you a true spiderman fan???
One great website to get you started is http://www.spiderfan.org/
The comics/books and characters sections would provide fans with all the info they all know about spidey.
Shows/Software sections would help fans to determine if they ever missed any spiderman shows or games. I browsed over it and found some which I remember. However, Spiderman 1 wasn't listed there. Hmmm... I have no clue. But seeing back the cartoons thingy really brought back some childhood memories.
Cards section has the trading cards and phone cards. I never had any of those. Fans can check out the latest news, most importantly about the upcoming Spiderman 3 movie in the News section.
The general layout of the is simple. If the navigation panel on the left was interactive, that would be awesome. With some sound effects and interesting menus, the site would definitely attract tons of spiderfans.

Sports: NBA Introduces New Game Ball
NEW YORK, June 28, 2006 – The NBA is introducing a new Official Game Ball for play beginning in the 2006-07 season. The new ball, manufactured by Spalding, features a new design and a new material that together offer better grip, feel, and consistency than the current leather ball. This marks the first change to the ball in over 35 years and only the second in 60 seasons. In 1970, the ball was transitioned from a four panel to an eight panel ball. NBA Commissioner David Stern, Spalding Group Vice President Dan Touhey, NBA Sr. Vice President of Basketball Operations Stu Jackson, Boston Celtics’ Forward Paul Pierce, and NBA on TNT analyst and two-time NBA champion Kenny Smith unveiled the new Game Ball today at the NBA Store on Fifth Avenue prior to the 2006 NBA Draft.
The new ball features Spalding’s Cross Traxxion™ technology, a union of revolutionary design and breakthrough material. The design is comprised of two interlocking, cross-shaped panels rather than the eight oblong panels found on traditional basketballs. As a result, there is more material coverage. The material is a microfiber composite with moisture management that provides superior grip and feel throughout the course of a game. Additionally, the new composite material eliminates the need for a break-in period, which is necessary for the current leather ball, and achieves consistency from ball to ball.
The interlocking cross-panel design has one-third the channel area of the previous official ball to provide more material coverage and better grip.
Moisture management material provides superior grip and feel throughout the course of a game.
"The advancements that Spalding has made to the new game ball ensure that the best basketball players in the world will be playing with the best basketball in the world," said Stern.
The NBA and Spalding subjected the ball to a rigorous evaluation process that included laboratory and on-court testing. Every NBA team received the new ball and had the opportunity to use it in practice. The ball also was tested in the NBA Development League and was used in activities during NBA All-Star 2006 in Houston. NBA retired players Steve Kerr and Mark Jackson participated in testing the new ball as well.
“Spalding’s continual efforts to advance basketball technology have yielded the optimal ball, one that is worthy of the new Official NBA Game Ball designation,” said Spalding Group President and CEO Scott Creelman. “We are honored that the NBA collaborated with us to make this change.”
The ball will be used in all NBA events leading up to next season including summer leagues, preseason and training camps, and NBA Europe Live presented by EA Sports. All active players will receive a personalized ball, as will each player selected in the 2006 NBA Draft.
Fans will have an opportunity to see the new ball tonight during the 2006 NBA Draft televised live on ESPN at 7 p.m. EST. The ball will hit store shelves at major sporting goods outlets on October 31 coinciding with the tip-off of the 2006-07 season. A limited number of new balls will be available today at the world’s only NBA Store on Fifth Avenue in New York City. Fans can also pre-order their new ball online at NBAStore.com for delivery at the start of the 2006-07 season.
As the Official Game Ball supplier of the NBA since 1983, Spalding will continue to produce the only basketball used during all NBA practices, exhibitions, games and international competitions. Spalding maintains the exclusive rights to produce and sell a complete line of NBA and team-identified basketballs in all sizes including full, junior, youth and mini.
