Digital TV Switch June 12 2009

It's here. The analog days for your TV is over! The whole of America made a switch from analog to digital TV broadcasts on Friday. Yet, there were more than 700,000 calls made to the Digital TV hotline from the uninitiated with over 20% of the live calls are over reception issues. Any set hooked up to cable or a satellite dish is unaffected by the end of analog broadcasts. So those who have subscription to DirectTV, Charter, Comcast and such are rolling fine. But around 17 million U.S. households still rely on antennas. Nielsen Co. said poor and minority households were less likely to be prepared for Friday's analog shutdown, as were households consisting of people younger than 35. At least America is kind enough to send out $40 digital converter coupons to its people (limit = 2 per household).
